A Message from the Executive Director
The year 2006-2007 was another year of growth for the North Star Chapter of the
American Red Cross. The North Star Chapter continues to expand services into
Cass, Crow Wing, Mahnomen and Wadena Counties. We continued to serve our communities
by teaching CPR/First Aid, Aquatics and Emergency Response Courses.
There were 247 Instructors teaching hundreds of classes across the nine county
area to meet the needs of the communities we serve. Each year these courses save
lives by preventing drowning and mitigating injury and possible death in accidents
and medical emergencies. This is one of the strongest Health and Safety programs
in the state of Minnesota.
The American Red Cross also continue to provide presenters and brochures on community
disaster education. Further, the chapter remains prepared to provide services
to the community in times of disaster, whether single family fires or major disasters.
The Red Cross disaster services in this area has been recognized several times
for its outstanding services in times of disaster.
Your local Red Cross continues to provide lifeline to insure that those needing
the service can afford this lifesaving device. The Lifeline program is another
local program having received recognition for its accomplishments.
Our community has continued to support our blood drives with volunteers and donors.
Our blood services coordinator Dee Severson and the volunteers in the Brainerd-Baxter
area have received widespread recognition for their work. These services often
go unnoticed but they are all critical means toward the same ends -- saving and
improving lives.
Please review the annual report and join us in celebrating the services your
local chapter provides from local communities as well as reaching out across
the globe The Red Cross is you, our volunteers and donors without you these services
would not be available. Thank you for all you do!
Sincerely,
George Stowe
Executive Director
